the CALAUIT ADVENTURE 

The Calauit Game Sanctuary was established in the late 70's to provide a protected home for 8 endangered species from Africa and the endangered species from our own Calamianes Group in Northern Palawan. Six of the eight species were able to make the necessary adjustments and have thrived in their new home.

You can see Giraffes, Zebras, Impalas, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and Elands. The original stock of 104 exotic animals has grown to a total of more than 500!!

The best time to see the animals in their natural habitat is just after dawn while they are feeding on dew-covered grass and brush. By 10AM, most of them will be hiding under trees and in the brush too get out of the heat.

The KALAMAYAN INN  with the support of the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD) is now offering a best value overnight SAFARI to visit the Calauit Game Park and see the best of the West Coast of Busuanga.

The tour leaves Coron at 10:00AM and proceeds West and North to Lusong Island. Just South of the island there is a small "gunboat" wreck laying in 10 meters of water and the visibility is generally good enough to allow surface snorkelers to see the entire wreck and the abundant marine life that make it their home. Next stop will be a white sand beach (maybe Calumbayan Island, maybe South Cay) where you can stop for a swim and some beachcombing. Lunch will be a packed lunch served when everyone is ready. The safari will proceed North past Tampulan Island and arrive at Caluit about 4:30PM.

While you are settling in at the guest house and exploring the surroundings, our staff will prepare a barbecue seafood dinner with all the trimmings (including wine). Before sunset, there will usually be some giraffes and zebras coming in close to the compound and guaranteed many Calamian Deer.After dinner and a walk under the stars to see the deer we will turn in for an early night.

The next day will start at dawn with an opportunity to hand feed some of the giraffes and get some photos and then off to tour the savannas and visit the animals. The tour will take two to three hours and will be via an all terrain 10- wheel truck. When you return, the staff we will have breakfast ready for you and then off in the banca for the return trip to Coron.

On the return we will visit Black Island, Pamlican Island and as many small islets and islands as you want. Lunch will be a beach barbecue somewhere along the way. Snorkel, swim or just lay on the beach. We will arrive Coron about 4:30 PM.
